We know how hard it is for men to unplug and get away for days on end, which is why we have created a two and a half day California August Expedition in the Lake Arrowhead area, just an hour and a half from Los Angeles. It’s a great chance to connect with other men and God in new ways. The weekend will be filled with a powerful blending of teaching sessions, film clips, and guided periods of reflection in the outdoors.
The Expedition will be held at the Hume SoCal – a rugged log cabin style venue remotely located on 250 acres in the San Bernadino mountains near Lake Arrowhead. It is a chance to get away in the outdoors, enjoy the adventures of skeet shooting, archery, zip line, lake swimming, hatchet throwing, hiking and more. This Expedition is designed for men who have never been on an Expedition. It is also an opportunity for those who have joined us before to come again and refresh themselves with the message. If you want to bring a friend, this is a great way to include them in what you have experienced. 80% of men who have attended say it’s some of the best and most powerful days of their lives.

Limited Spaces
Since the beginning of Adventures of the Heart, 20 years ago, this has been our fastest selling event to date. We are filling up fast, so please register in ASAP to secure your spot.
A Note about Covid-19
For this event we will not have any COVID related restrictions. Specifically, there will be no face mask wearing because we have found that masks greatly prohibit meaningful connection and interaction among participants. There will also be no social distancing, no limited attendance, no vaccination requirements, or status checking.
All participants understand this and participate at their own risk and liability. We simply ask that participants take common sense measures before attending and if showing transmissible symptoms within 24 hours of attendance to politely stay back entirely or until receiving appropriate medical clearance. If you need to cancel due to COVID symptoms we will issue you a refund.
If you are concerned about catching COVID and are uncomfortable coming on the event in light of our COVID policy listed above, we ask that you postpone attending until a future date when you would feel more comfortable attending.
Lodging, Amenities & Activities
Lodging
The Expedition venue is remotely located on 250 acres in the San Bernadino Mountains. The venue features log cabin style dormitories. Each cabin has two wings with 14 bunks per wing. We are greatly limiting the amount of men staying in each wing; there will only be 7 men in each wing (only using the lower twin bunks, not the top bunks). Each twin bed has comfortable inter-spring mattresses and personal storage space.
Each wing is joined by a large, clean, central bath, providing plenty of private showers and stalls to minimize wait times.
Amenities
The venue has some great options to enjoy during your free time. You can grab a milkshake at the snack shop or cruise over to the coffee shop for everything from a latte to a cold brew.
Activities
There are almost too many options to list. The main Expedition activity will be the skeet shooting range. From a first time shooter to an experienced shooter, this will be a great time to either experience shooting for the first time or play some fun games like Annie Oakley.
The other main feature will be the private lake that features a blob (send your buddies soaring into the lake), a rope swing off a tall platform and a water zip line. There is even a little beach to relax and enjoy the summer heat. Other options on the property are disc golf, hiking trails, hatchet throwing and archery.
Time of arrival and time of departure
Check in is from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24th. Dinner is from 6:00-7:00 and we will begin our first session directly after dinner, so please check in and locate your room prior to dinner. We will conclude on August 27th at 12:00 p.m. Lunch on Sunday is not covered in the Expedition fee. In order to attend each man is required to attend the Expedition from beginning to end (we are asking that men not arrive a day late or leave a day early).
Transportation
We suggest teaming up with other men for the drive, or you can drive on your own. Once you arrive at the facility, we ask that you park your car and plan on leaving it parked for the entire Expedition.

Weather
Summer weather in August around Lake Arrowhead can be incredibly beautiful and warm, but the evenings could cool off so we suggest you bring a jacket. Most likely a light windbreaker, shorts, jeans, and athletic shoes are all you will need but we do suggest bringing some cold weather clothes in case the temperatures drop.
